Welcome to the Ocean Stars blog 2014.

Ocean Stars is a charity helping children and their families rebuild their shattered lives in Sri Lanka.The charity was set up in 2005 in response to the tsunami which took the lives of over 30,000 people in Sri Lanka alone and left thousands of innocent men, women and children suffering and traumatised.  Today, Ocean Stars offers these communities a route out of poverty by supporting a range of educational and livelihood projects.

This year a group of Calthorpe Park students will have the opportunity to visit the wonderful country of Sri Lanka.The Ocean stars team has welcomed new members and welcomed back students who were part of last year's 2013 Ocean Stars team and who are keen to return.

The school team are currently helping to raise money for the charity and in October-November this year the students will get a chance to see the work that the charity does and teach lessons to the primary and secondary schools.

We will be updating this blog on a regular basis to help inform people about our activities. We find  that parents, families and friends enjoy reading our regular updates and seeing the photos that we upload. When we reach Sri Lanka this will be our only way of communicating with people at home and offers a great deal of reassurance and support to everyone at home.

We also use the blog to tell people about the great work that the charity does.
